Emme's First Birthday Party

Last weekend we celebrated Emme turning one. September is always a crazy month but I still wanted to do something to celebrate her first year of life.

David loves to make the cakes for our kids’ birthdays. It usually involves me giving him a picture of the cake I’d like and the flavor and him trying to make the cake. I appreciate him doing (although I might put some pressure on him to make the “perfect” cake) this because I’m usually involved with the other details of the party.

I went with a white swan theme for Emme’s birthday. I ordered a lot of the decor online during the summer so I wouldn’t have to think much about it so close to the party.

The cake, cupcakes and cookies were made by Shar of Cakery Bakery. I have ordered from them before and am always blown away by the finished product. If you’re looking for affordable baking for special occasions, I highly recommend Cakery Bakery. I gave Shar some examples of what I was looking for and described some changes I wanted made to the original design and she created the most beautiful cake, cupcakes and cookies that were everything I envisioned.

The favor bags included a swab cookie and either a headband (Made by Arrow and Lace) or a bow tie. I also purchased large, white latex balloons from Perfect Sense. Patricia was so helpful and even helped me rearrange some of the things in my car to fit the balloons.

A few of the other highlights included mini gold crowns, mini white balloons used as a cake topper, as well as beautiful dahlias purchased from a local flower farm (Bushel and Peck).

Overall, it was a great celebrating our little one with friends and family. I’m definitely looking forward to Emme’s next birthday although I haven’t given one thought to what the theme might be.
