I cannot believe that we’re in April and Easter is literally around the corner. It feels like it was just Christmas!
Spencer and I rounded up a couple of fun activities for Easter that you could do with your little ones. We tried a few different ones and here are our favorites.
Easter Cross: Painted Dot Art
The first activity was to finger paint a cross. Spencer loved this activity. I may have scaffolded it a bit to suit his age. I created a cut-out of a cross and put it overtop of the paper he was going to use, so that in the end, it would be obvious that he had painted a cross.
If you really do not like messes, instead of having your kids use their fingers to paint, you could have them paint with a cotton ball attached to a clothes pin, although I’m sure they’ll love the feeling of the paint on their little fingers.
I also had to explain to Spencer what a dot was as he didn’t know (as clearly seen in his painting)
Materials Needed:
- 1-2 sheets of white cardstock paper
- Finger paints
- Pencil
- Ruler
- Tape
Step 1: Draw a cross and cut it out to that it can be used as a tracer.
Step 2: Place the tracer over top of the paper that will be painted on and secure with tape.
Step 3: Begin finger painting.
Step 4: Let the paint dry.
Step 5: Remove the tracer from the painted paper and voila your painting is finished!
Bunny Mask
Disclaimer: You’ll want to scale this down to fit your little one’s face.
Materials Needed:
- White cardstock paper
- Pink cardstock paper
- Pencil
- Glue (I used stick glue)
- Cotton balls
- An old thin headband or elastic to secure the bunny mask to your child’s head
Step 1: Using the white cardstock, draw an outline of the mask to fit your child’s face and cut it out
Step 2: Using the pink cardstock, draw and cut out the inside of the bunny ears
Step 3: Glue the pink cardstock (insides of bunny ears) onto the white cardstock (bunny ears).
Step 4: Make the holes that the elastic will go in to secure the mask to your child’s head (At this point, you can attach the elastic. I simply looped the elastic through the hole on each end and tied a knot.)
Step 5: Glue around the mask and add as many cotton balls to fill the mask. It works better if you pull the cotton balls apart a bit to “fluff” them up.
Step 6: Let the glue dry and you’re done!
